Robyn M. Stuhr, M.A., ACSM-RCEP - Vice President of Exercise is Medicine®
Robyn Stuhr was appointed Vice President, Exercise is Medicine® (EIM) at the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) in October 2017. She previously served as Sports Medicine Program Director at UC San Diego Health, acting as liaison to the U.S. Olympic Committee Medical Network, and as Vice President of Academy at the American Council on Exercise. As exercise physiologist and administrative director, Robyn helped to create the first Women’s Sports Medicine Center in the United States at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, dedicated to the treatment of active and athletic women. She has 30 years of clinical and administrative experience in health care including: cardiac rehabilitation, business and occupational health, health promotion and sports medicine.
Robyn is certified by ACSM as a Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP), by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), and as a Bone Fit™ trained professional by Osteoporosis Canada. She is a member of the National Osteoporosis Foundation Working Group on Nutrition and Physical Activity, on the scientific advisory board of Connect Well - worksite wellness consultants, and a member of the medical expert board for Advocates for Injured Athletes.
Additionally, Robyn has been a contributing editor to ACSM’s Health & Fitness Journal and has written several book chapters, articles and educational handouts on exercise, health and fitness. She has lectured extensively to professional and lay audiences about a variety of fitness and health topics including exercise for bone and cardiovascular health, weight management, body image, the Female Athlete Triad, exercise through menopause, and effective behavioral strategies to support an active lifestyle.
Shelby Mandla - Exercise is Medicine® Program Manager
Shelby Mandla joined the EIM team as Program Manager in December 2018 after spending 2½ years in corporate wellness as a health coach, where she provided individual and group coaching, interfaced with a clinic practice, and managed multiple corporate accounts. She oversees day-to-day activities for EIM, collaborates with EIM and ACSM staff on program and communications projects, supports EIM committees and ACSM leaders, and assists with global EIM expansion efforts.
Shelby earned an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a minor in Nutrition from the University of Southern Indiana. She is a certified ACSM personal trainer and Intrinsic health coach. She is also the head of communications for the Nicaragua Resource Network, a faith-based organization committed to helping create sustainable life change and long-term impact in Nicaragua.
Mark Stoutenberg, PhD, MSPH - Exercise is Medicine® Program Officer
Mark Stoutenberg is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Kinesiology Department at Temple University. Mark earned his PhD in Exercise Physiology (2008), a Master’s in Public Health (2011), and was a faculty member in the Department of Public Health at the University of Miami (2011-18). His research experience involves the examination of exercise interventions in different populations, such as untrained, inactive adults, breast cancer survivors, and individuals with substance abuse disorders. His current work explores how aspects of implementation science can be used to further the integration of physical activity in health care settings and the utilization of referral networks that link patients to community resources.
Mark has served as a Program Officer with the EIM team since 2013. He helps coordinate the international expansion of the EIM Global Health Network and EIM Learning Research Collaborative, the development of clinical and community tools, the integration of physical activity into health professional training programs, as well as supports several EIM committees.
Lisa Ramage – ACSM Media Relations and Communications Manager
Lisa Ramage joined ACSM as EIM Program Manager in May 2017. After 18 months overseeing day-to-day activities for EIM and supporting EIM committees and ACSM leaders, Lisa transitioned to a new role as Media Relations and Communications Manager at ACSM. She will continue to assist EIM with communications efforts as well as manage media relations and Sports Medicine Bulletin for ACSM.
Lisa has spent more than 15 years in media relations, communications and program management working for global and international corporations, nonprofits and associations. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communications and Public Relations from the University of Indianapolis. An active member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), she participates in the Hoosier PRSA Chapter activities and serves on the Meet the Media committee.
